IMPORTANT NEWS FOR YOU
From your committee:
WE HAVE TO CLOSE OUR CLUB IN A FEW WEEKS.
OUR SEPTEMBER 8TH CONCERT WILL BE OUR LAST

It is with regret that we have come to this, but we have asked in vain for people to help to run the club and also we hoped to increase the audience size. Even on a “good” day, with 40 people we have a good concert and give an enthusiastic welcome, but it is still not enough to break even and sometimes the audience is only 30+.
In addition, we, the Committee, like the audience, are all getting old and more infirm. We are all less confident driving in the dark and in bad weather, so effectively, we are resigning. In a smaller /cheaper venue there may be still be enough enthusiasts to attend real jazz, even in the daytime?
WE ARE A REGISTERED CHARITY AND HAVE BEEN PRESENTING JAZZ CONCERTS SINCE 1984.
After the September concert, all remaining funds in our charity will go to another charity called Live Music Now that provides jazz groups and musicians for charitable causes in music education and entertainment e.g. in schools and care homes.  (Windy City Weatherbirds are one such group)
